James Drake

James Dale Drake passed away at his residence Tuesday morning November 21, 2017.

Mr. Drake was born February 17, 1953 in Shelbyville, IN. He is survived by his wife
Diana (Jones) Drake, of Shelbyville; mother Doris (McVey) Drake of Shelbyville;
stepsons Shawn and Stephen Harrington of Arizona; grandson Leon Drake of
Shelbyville; siblings David Drake (wife Amelia) of North Carolina, John Drake
(wife Cathy) of Westfield, Tim Drake (wife Melissa) of Shelbyville, Lisa Drake Burton
(husband Mike) of Flat Rock,and Terry Drake (wife Linda) of Rushville. He was preceded
in death by his father, John N. Drake, brother, Richard Drake, sister, Karen Drake Wheeler,
and grandparents Samuel and Florence McVey.

Mr. Drake grew up in the small town of Manilla, Indiana, where he attended elementary
and middle school. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1971 and joined the US Army
soon after that. Mr. Drake served almost 23 years in the Army before retiring as an E7 Sergeant
First Class. He also enjoyed meeting and working with people, so he joined the workforce at
Walmart where he stayed until 2013.

Jim was a devoted family man and loved them all very much. He will be remembered and missed
dearly by all of his family and friends. There will be no viewing or service, but a Celebration of Life
will be held in the near future.
