James Crowley

The Henson, Hearne, Smith and Ewart families are sad to announce the death of James Oliver Crowley, on October 6, 2026, at the age of 96

Jim lived in Shelby County over 80 years and was a lifetime member of Brookfield Baptist Church. He was very involved with his church community including serving as deacon, and singing in the choir.

He served in the Navy from 1950 to 1954 . He worked briefly at Westinghouse and retired from Indianapolis Power and Light Company.

He loved to garden in addition to hunting, fishing and trapping. He met many friends and fond acquaintances through these beloved activities,
like selling his garden produce off the back porch or fishing for a week in Canada. He was an outdoorsman, he was kind and loving and will be missed by his family, friends and community.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30pm at Brookfield Baptist Church,8635 W 800 N, Fairland, Thursday, October 15th, 2026, with Pastor Ron Green officiating. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the church. Funeral procession to Acton Cemetery will take place following the funeral service. Military rites will be observed.
