Helen M. Ash

Helen M. Ash, 81, of Waldron, passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis.
Born May 16, 1936 in Decatur County, she was the daughter of Julian I. Spurling and Pearl Ruth (Davis)
Spurling. She married Jim Ash on May 23, 1959 and he survives.

Other survivors include 4 children- Tony Ash of Florida, Steve Ash (wife Geri) of Shelbyville, Pam Schonfeld
(husband Rick) of Terre Haute, Sandy Weaver (husband Mike) of Waldron; a sister Mary Lamb of Waldron;
12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her parents, grandson Nicholas Weaver, and great grandson Christian Ash.

Mrs. Ash was a lifelong resident of this area, and was a homemaker. She had been employed as a sales
associate at Walmart for 10 years, retiring in 2000. She graduated from Waldron High School in 1954 and was
a member of Waldron Baptist Church and Foxy Ladies Red Hat Society.

Helen loved to read and work crossword puzzles, traveling, and spending time with her family and her dog
Baxter.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Waldron Baptist Church with Pastor Jason
Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Star Cemetery in Decatur County. Friends may pay their respects on
Tuesday evening, May 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437
Amos Road,.
