Dwain Richard "Rick" Mcdaniel Obituary (1953 - 2017)

After a lengthy illness, Dwain Richard "Rick" McDaniel, 63, of Shelbyville, passed away June 25, 2017 at IU Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, with his wife Debra by his side. Born July 10, 1953 in Shelbyville, he was the son of Bob J. McDaniel and Ann B. (Bass) McDaniel. He married Debra (Zeigler) McDaniel on June 19, 1992 and she survives. Other survivors include his mother Ann McDaniel of Manilla, sons Joshua McDaniel (wife Brenda) of New Jersey, Jeremy McDaniel (fiance Tracey Harris) of New Jersey, step daughter Beverly Taylor (husband Juergen Thusat) of Michigan; 5 siblings- R. Jeff McDaniel (wife Cindy) of Arlington, Kathy Meyer (husband Alan) of Greensburg, David McDaniel (wife Teresa) of Boerne, Texas, John McDaniel (wife Jackie) of Waldron, Frank McDaniel (wife Erin) of Manilla; grandchildren Zach, Billy, Danny, Grant, Charlie, R.J., and Terry. He is also survived by his dog Noah. He was preceded in death by his father, infant son Bruce McDaniel, and grandson Jakob McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel had lived in this area his entire lifetime and had been employed for several years as a meat cutter with several differnet companies. He was a member of Indiana Gladiola Society and the Shelbyville Garden Club. Rick referred to himself a "jack of all trades, master of none". He loved gardening and grew over 300 different varieties of day lillies. He enjoyed watching and collecting movies, and considered himself a friend of Bill W. Funeral services will be Thursday June 29, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Pastor Marcy Patrick officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00 pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
