Donn A. Hurst Obituary (1926

Donn A. Hurst, 90, of St. Paul, passed away after a brief illness, on August 24, 2017 at Morning Breeze of Greensburg. He was born on November 24, 1926 to William and June (Allen) Hurst in Indianapolis. He married Martha L. (Wiley) on June 20,1948 and she survives. Other survivors include daughters, Karen Hurst, of Grand Junction, CO; and Kathleen (Raymond) Morton of Greensburg; three grandchildren; Brian Morton of St. Paul; Jill (Bart) McFarling of Garnett, SC; and Barry (Jessi) Morton of Greensburg; four great grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and sister- in- law, Beryl Hurst. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Raye Hurst; and sisters, Jean Hoban, and Willa Hale. Mr. Hurst worked as a rural mail carrier for 42 years. He also served as Chief of the St. Paul Fire Department for 10 years. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1945. Mr. Hurst proudly served his country in the US Army. Donn was an active member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church south of St. Paul. He was an avid reader and enjoyed sports. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 11:00 am at Glenn E. George Funeral Home, St. Paul, with visitation on Monday August 28, from 4:00-8:00 pm. Pastor Dawn Barnes will officiate. Burial will be held at Union Chapel Cemetery, south of St. Paul. Memorial donations may be made Union Chapel United Methodist Church or The Boaz Project in care of the funeral home.
