Dolly D. Jacobs Obituary (1936

Dolly D. Jacobs, 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at her residence. Born February 15, 1936 in Shelbyville, she was the daughter of Robert Dixon and Fern (Rutherford) Dixon. She married Henry P. Jacobs and he preceded her on December 7, 1988. Survivors include 9 children- Henry Jacobs Jr., of Shelbyville, Mary Smothers of Shelbyville, Cindy Wells of Louisville, Kentucky, Kathy Jacobs of Shelbyville, Jane Jacobs of Shelbyville, Ruby Sinclair of Shelbyville, Edmund Dolphus Dixon of Bloomington, Irvin Eugene Dixon of Oklahoma, Sharon Reed of Virginia; brother Edmund Dixon of New Mexico, sister Blanche Gibson of Florida; 19 grand children, and several great grandchildren & great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, spouse, brothers Rosco Dixon, & Thomas Dixon; sisters Laverne Jacobs, Shirley Smith, Bea Graham, Pauline Jacobs,and granddaughter Heather Smothers. Mrs. Jacobs had lived in this area her entire lifetime. She was a home maker, and had been a factory worker at Admiral Corp. for 7 years. She was a member of Salvation Army Church. Dolly enjoyed watching games shows, football, and basketball on TV. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and working word search puzzles. Funeral services will be 12:00 noon on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, with Capt. Alan Sladek officiating. Visitation will be observed on Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of the donor's choice, in care of the funeral home.
